KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Royals fans coming from west of Kauffman Stadium on Interstate 70 may have a tougher time making it to games with new ramp and lane closures in the area.
The Missouri Department of Transportation closed the off-ramp from eastbound Interstate 70 to the Blue Ridge Cutoff exit.
Motorists hoping to access Blue Ridge Cutoff to get the stadium should exit eastbound I-70 at the 31st Street/U.S. 40 exit and head east, according to MoDOT Kansas City.
The ramp will remain closed until the summer of 2020.
Additionally, there will be lane closures along I-70 in both directions between I-435 and Stadium Drive this week to accommodate bridge construction work.
MoDOT also plans to completely close I-70 in both directions from 10 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, through 5 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, for demolition of the old I-435 bridges over I-70.
All work is part of the new turbine interchange being constructed at the I-435/I-70 junction.
Eastbound traffic on I-70, which will be reduced to one lane at Manchester Trafficway, will be detoured to southbound I-435. Motorists needing to continue east on I-70 are advised to use Interstate 470.
Westbound I-70 will be reduced to one lane at Blue Ridge Cutoff and remaining traffic will be diverted onto northbound I-435.
To continue west on I-70, motorists will need to turn around at the 23rd Street exit from northbound I-435 and double back to I-70.
