Wednesday the mayor unveiled a campaign to get Amazon’s attention on social media.

The idea is for people across the metro area to review products on Amazon using the hashtag “#KC5Stars,’ highlighting some of Kansas City’s best qualities.

Mayor James provided some examples to kick start the campaign.

The mayor rattled off a list of things that make Kansas City a great choice for Amazon:

  • Affordable housing
  • A qualified workforce
  • Within 3 hours of 2,000 miles of shoreline (Lake of the Ozarks)
  • 2nd highest amount of rail traffic in the country
  • KC is right in the middle of the country
  • Good education system

Mayor James also said his team has plans for Amazon’s Alexa, but said that plan would be rolled out at a later time.

All of the products the mayor reviewed on Amazon were bought with private funds and will be donated to charity, the mayor said.
