PREVIOUS | Overland Park police are looking for a suspect following a shooting Saturday night in Overland Park.

John Lacy, Overland Park Police Department public information officer, tweeted about an aggravated battery that occurred in the 7800 block of Marty Street.

Just before 9 p.m., Lacy upgraded the incident to a homicide. He later said at a press conference that officers responded to a report of gun shots in the 7800 block of Marty Street. Officers located a male victim, between the ages of 15 and 20, and attempted to perform CPR, according to Lacy. The man later died at an area hospital and has not yet been identified.

Officers recovered the gun that was used in the shooting, but still are looking for one suspect.

They are searching for a white male wearing a black shirt and orange pants, Lacy said. Witnesses, according to Lacy, reported hearing shots and seeing a man running westbound from the complex.

Police were canvassing the area Saturday night, and Lacy said a perimeter had been set up and that a K9 officer was working on tracking a scent.

Merriam and Prairie Village police departments are assisting in the investigation.
