Owner of dog that bit child cooperating with police

UPDATE: Feb. 23, 9 a.m.: Overland Park Police said the dog owner came to the police station Sunday morning and is cooperating with the investigation. The injuries to the 11 year-old girl were minor, and the dog is current on its vaccinations.

Overland Park police are asking for help to locate a dog that bit a child on Saturday.

An 11-year-old girl was at Comanche Elementary School, 8200 Grant Street, when the dog, described as a “brown, black and white, medium-size pit bull-type dog” bit her, according to police.

The owner was a white female with “dirty-blonde” hair and was wearing red pajama bottoms and a dark blue shirt, police said.

The owner and dog, which is believed to be named Princess, were last seen at Highpointe Village Apartments.
