KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A metro man is sharing his challenges as a man living with a disability in hopes of helping others.
In order to do something as simple as taking out the trash, Shawn Garcia starts the five to 10 minute journey out of his apartment building, down the sidewalk, around the corner and through the back parking lot to lift his trash into the dumpster.
His apartment complex is in full ADA and Fair Housing Act compliance nonetheless simple chores present huge challenges.
There is help however, as a metro organization helps people with disabilities live independently.
