OTTAWA, Kan. — Ottawa firefighters battled a building fire from the exterior due to the heavy flames throughout the structure Friday night.

Crews could see smoke and flames from blocks away as they responded to the fire at 2302 E. Wilson Street shortly after 7:00 p.m.

Fire was coming through the roof, and engulfed the entire structure on arrival.

Firefighters continued to fight the heavy fire from the exterior due to the extent of flames and condition of the building.

No injuries were reported.

Crews were expected to stay on scene throughout the night to extinguish hot spots.

The Fire Department and Kansas Fire Marshall's office will conduct an investigation on the cause of the blaze.
