Just after 4 a.m. crews from Overland Park and Leawood Fire were called to a house fire in the 8500 block of W. 155th Street.

Firefighters reported smoke and fire from the roof of a single story, single family home. Firefighters quickly located a fire in the attic of the home and extinguished it in 30 minutes.

The homeowner reported hearing a loud boom, followed by smoke alarms sounding. The home then lost power.

Residents were able to exit the home safely and no injuries were reported.

The Red Cross is assisting three adult residents with temporary housing. While the cause of the fire is believed to be a lighting strike, the exact cause is under investigation.
