OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — A 16-year-old boy was injured in a shooting late Tuesday at 79th and Farley streets in Overland Park, police said.

Officers were called to the area shortly before midnight on a report of a male in the street.

The teen had been shot several times, police said. He was transported to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police do not believe the incident is related to another shooting that occurred last week less than a quarter-mile away, spokesman John Lacy said. A 17-year-old boy died in that shooting.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to call the Overland Park Police Department at (913)-895-6300 or the TIPS Hotline at (816)-474-TIPS.
