KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Overland Park police are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect of a felony aggravated battery and theft incident.

A woman entered a home improvement store in the 9600 block of Metcalf Avenue on May 9 and “concealed several items and exited the store,” according to police.

The woman began to run from a loss-prevention officer who attempted to make contact before a passerby attempted to help the officer.

“As the Good Samaritan was attempting to detain the female suspect, an unknown Hispanic male driving a Gold Honda Accord exited his vehicle and severely battered the Good Samaritan,” Overland Park police said in a Facebook post. “The two suspects entered into the Gold Honda Accord with temporary tag and left southbound on Metcalf Avenue.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Overland Park police at 913-344-8768 or call the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers Tips Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
