Overnight fire forces couple from Kansas City home

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two people were forced from their Kansas City, Missouri, home after an overnight house fire, according to authorities.

Around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, the Kansas City Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 8800 block of East Eighth Street. When firefighters arrived, they found the back of the house fully involved.

A husband and wife were home at the time and self-evacuated, according to KCFD.

Firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire with two small truck hoses.

The fire caused a small hole in the roof, but they couple was not displaced from the home.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

KCFD requested the bomb and arson unit to investigate the blaze. The cause of the fire is unknown.
