Passenger killed when car flees traffic stop

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person was killed in the 2500 block of Lister Avenue when a vehicle fled a traffic stop Saturday night.

According to Kansas City, Missouri, police, an officer attempted to stop a gold Chevrolet Impala near 27th Street and Elmwood Avenue.

The driver refused to stop and sped away from the area.

The driver then lost control and left the roadway. Police said the vehicle struck a tree and a stone wall.

A passenger in the vehicle was ejected and died at the scene. Police identified the victim as 30-year-old Donnie Ramey.

The driver and another passenger were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition.

Police have not identified the deceased person at this time.

It is not clear whether any charges will be filed.
