KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Several passengers at Kansas City International Airport reported delays Friday afternoon for both arriving and departing flights.
KSHB 41 heard from one passenger who reported being delayed for two hours at KCI.
KSHB 41 News has reached out to the Federal Aviation Administration and Kansas City, Missouri, officials to learn more about the cause of the delays.
According to the FAA's website, equipment issues appear to be the cause of the delays.
Southwest Airlines is the largest carrier at KCI. In a statement Friday afternoon to KSHB 41, a Southwest spokesperson said a handful of their flights were diverted due to the equipment issue but deferred additional comment to the FAA.
CNN reported Friday that radar and communication outages in the Dallas area had significantly limited flights at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field. It was not immediately clear if the situation in Dallas was related to delays in Kansas City.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
