KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A recent Raymore-Peculiar High School graduate died in a single-vehicle crash late Wednesday in Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said 18-year-old Joseph Bost, of Peculiar, was driving southbound on Route C north of 233rd Street around 11:40 p.m.

MSHP said Bost's car skidded and ran off the right side of the road, striking a ditch and overturning several times.

Bost was ejected from the car. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.

He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report.

In a statement Thursday, the Raymore-Peculiar School District said that Bost graduated this year.

"Our heartfelt condolences are extended to Joseph's family and friends," the district said.

The school planned to have counselors available for students and faculty.
