Pedestrian killed crossing US-71 in KCMO

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A pedestrian was struck and killed Sunday night off of US-71, according to Kansas City, Missouri, police.

Officers were called to the scene just north of Gregory Boulevard around 11 p.m.

An investigation concluded that a silver Mitsubishi Lancer was traveling north on US-71 when it struck the pedestrian, whom was attempting to cross the highway at Gregory Boulevard.

The man who was struck died at the scene. He has been identified as 36-year-old Termaine Wesson of Kansas City.

Police say the driver was not impaired at the time of the incident. They have not said whether the driver will be charged.

It is not clear if Wesson was in a designated crosswalk.
