KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Oliver, an American cuisine restaurant on the Country Club Plaza, has permanently closed.
Alan Gaylin, founder and CEO of the restaurant, posted a statement announcing the closing on the building exterior at Jackson Street.
“We’ve had our share of challenges and successes at this location,” Gaylin wrote. “For quite a while, we had a lot of success at The Oliver. But over time, it just didn’t perform to our standards -- especially when compared to our other restaurants. With additional hurdles of future construction on the west side of the Plaza, we’ve made a business decision to close our doors at the Oliver.”
The Oliver opened in June 2016.
Last year, officials from national retailer Nordstrom submitted a proposal for a 116,000 square-foot store location at the Country Club Plaza. That location is expected to open in 2021, after which the Nordstrom at Oak Park Mall is expected to close.
