Kansas City police arrested a man at the scene of a house fire Friday morning.

Fire crews were called to 6th and Cypress in Kansas City, Missouri around midnight. They saw heavy fire and smoke coming from the boarded-up home. The fire spread to a home just to the north.

Firefighters were able to get both fires out, and no one was hurt. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Police confirmed officers arrested a squatter for trespassing. In the police report, neighbors told officers they believe the man started the fire.

Officers said the man was later released.
