KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Following a shots fired call last weekend at the Independence Commons, police on Friday said shoppers should see a beefed-up security presence.

In a Facebook post, Independence police said people will see at least four additional officers and at least one supervisor on patrol in the area. The presence is in addition to any officers working inside businesses in the area.

Police emphasized in the post that they’ll be enforcing city ordinances, especially those involving lingering, trespassing, disorderly conduct, shoplifting and child endangerment.

The enhancements come after the area dealt with increased crowds and a shots fired call at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30.
