Man charged after leading police on chase through downtown KCMO

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UPDATE 7:20 P.M. 1/31/2017: A Kansas City man already wanted on felony warrants is facing more charges after leading police on a high-speed chase.

Ronzell M. Wright, 26, faces two charges of resisting a lawful stop.

Police attempted to pull Wright over after they recognized his vehicle and discovered warrants out for his arrest. Wright told police he fled because he knew he was wanted on probation warrants.

A police chase through downtown Kansas City, Missouri, ended after the subject got out of his car and surrendered.

Police said officers tried to stop him at Blue Parkway and Elmwood just before 3:30 p.m.

The subject refused to stop and was driving dangerously when officers initiated the pursuit.

Police said he had a felony warrant, but it’s unclear what it was for.

The chase ended at 53rd and Jackson when the driver got out of the car and surrendered.

Officers were able to arrest him without further incident.

Police said the driver will be held on an investigative hold.

There wasn’t anyone else in the car, and no injuries were reported.
