KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A child was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a two-vehicle crash on I-70 near Stadium Dr. Saturday night.

According to police, a white Ford F150 truck was driving eastbound on I-70 and weaving in and out of traffic just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Just after Stadium Dr., the truck struck the rear of an eastbound Chrysler van.

After the impact, the truck went off the highway and down an embankment and across the entrance and exit ramp, before striking a metal guardrail on the south side of the roadway.

The van continued east and hit a concrete barrier, knocking the vehicle over and onto the shoulder of the highway.

The driver of the truck was not injured and was taken into custody for suspected impaired driving.

The driver of the van had minor injuries. Four other passengers inside the van were transported to area hospitals for treatment, including a child with reported head injuries.

The roadway was closed down for nearly an hour as crews worked to clear the scene.
