Police investigate homicide near KC bus stop

UPDATE, 2:12 p.m. | Police now are investigating this death as a homicide.

The man has been identified as 62-year-old Rolando Perez-Garcia. Police said they believe that Perez-Garcia was homeless, and they have not been able to locate next of kin.

Anyone with information about Perez-Garcia's next of kin is asked to contact the homicide unit.

ORIGINAL STORY | Police are investigating what might have contributed to a man's death near a bus stop Sunday morning.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the 2300 block of Summit Street just before 8 a.m. on a medical nature unknown call.

Upon arrival, an unresponsive male was located near the bus stop. He was transported by EMS to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Crime scene investigators and homicide detectives are canvassing the area to determine what might have occurred.
