Police have booked a teenage suspect accused of sexually attacking a teenage girl at F.L. Schalgle High School Monday.

KCK Police said the incident happened on the school grounds this morning. The girl's friend called 911 around 8:30 a.m.

“Saying that she had been sexually assaulted," Officer Cameron Morgan, a KCKPD spokesperson said. "Our officers responded spoke with the victim and notified our detectives that’s when our detectives came out and contacted with our victim and the suspect and right now we’re currently interviewing the suspect."

Police add the victim and suspect are both students at the school and weren’t strangers to each other.

“I’m surprised because stuff like that don’t happen in our school,” Munasar Abdi, a senior at the school said.

The school district told 41 Action News they are helping police with the investigation.

“I’m a rather surprised. I homeschooled my four kids so when I come to public schools to interpret it’s like “wow!! There’s a lot that goes on” Sherry Padgett, an interpreter at the school said.

A district spokesperson said the principal has notified parents of this incident.

Principal Yolanda K. Thompson sent the following letter to parents about the incident.
