KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A police pursuit led to a fatal car crash around 11 p.m. Monday night in Kansas City, Missouri.

According to KCPD, officers located a vehicle that was stolen in an armed carjacking earlier Monday and attempted to stop it near 23rd Street and Lister Avenue.

The vehicle fled and the driver failed to stop at a stop sign northbound on Lawn Avenue at 23rd Street. The suspect vehicle hit another vehicle that was headed west on 23rd Street.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck was killed in the crash. Later Tuesday, police identified the victim as Ricky Donaldson, 52, of Kansas City.

Donaldson's passenger also was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

KCPD said the three suspects in the car-jacking were all taken into custody and transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Violent Crimes Division detectives are investigating the original robbery and looking into additional charges surrounding the pursuit and crash.
