UPDATE | Court documents reveal that the man originally charged in this case, Theodist Lewis, was found not guilty of all charges by a Jackson County jury in April 2021.

PREVIOUS REPORTING | A man was taken into custody in connection with a Friday homicide at a convenience store.

Police were called to the 7-Eleven in the 10600 block of Blue Ridge on a shooting just after 11:15 p.m. When they arrived, they found a man inside the convenience store suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

Kansas City police later identified the victim as Norez R. Brock, 26, of Kansas City.

Police say Theodist Lewis, 31, was taken into custody after they received a tip on the case.

Lewis faces charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

He's being held in the Jackson County Jail.
