KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are searching for clues and asking for the public's help with information on a shooting at East 34th Street and Chestnut Avenue overnight.
Kansas City, Missouri, police officers were called to the scene on several reports of shots fired shortly before 2 a.m.
Officers arrived to find a vehicle in the street with a broken windshield.
They found a women inside with an apparent gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
A police spokesperson said the area was canvassed and shell casings were found. By sunrise, detectives and crime scene investigators focused their attention on the intersection of East 34th Street and Agnes Avenue, about two blocks from Chestnut Avenue.
No suspect information has been released.
