INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — There is one spot in our area where it is always Presidents' Day: The Truman Library and Museum.

So, when the rest of the country gets in on the celebration, you just know there will be extra-special things happening at “Harry’s Place.”

Monday, the official 2018 White House Ornament is being revealed — and it’s a tribute to Truman.

This tradition was started by Nancy Reagan and, according to the president of the While House Historical Association Stewart McLaurin, this year is unique.

This is the first official reveal to be held at a Presidential Library.

The ornament is beautiful, and features the famous Truman Balcony.

Meanwhile, you can also find Presidential Cookies as well as an evening panel that is as current as today’s headlines: The Presidency and the Press. Members of the White House Correspondents Association will be there.

Somewhere, Harry and Bess are smiling!
