Price Chopper announced on Monday that its working to ensure only cage-free eggs are sold in stores.
The local chain hopes only cage free eggs are sold in its stores by 2025.
This move comes as part of a growing national interest to improve conditions for hens in the egg industry, according to a press release.
"Our customers want to know that their food is being sourced ethically," said Casie Broker, director of marketing at Price Chopper. " Switching to selling only cage-free eggs is the natural next step."
Price Chopper operates 51 grocery stores in the Greater Kansas City area.
