KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As you go to put up your Christmas lights this year, you may notice some strands of lights no longer work.

Before you dump the lights straight into the trash, consider recycling them.

Christmas lights are made up of plastic, glass, and metal, so you can't put them in your recycling bin, but there are several places you can take them for recycling.

Kansas City Councilman Kevin O'Neill released a list of places you can take your lights to be recycled. All of these places accept holiday lights year-round.
