One person is dead and another is injured after a fire in Kansas City, Missouri last Friday.
Firefighters were dispatched to the 8600 block of E. 116th Street just after 9:30 p.m. on a reported house fire.
The condition of the second victim is still unknown.
Fire officials are investigating the possibility that careless handling of smoking material may be the cause of the fire.
Damage to the home is listed at $15,000.00 and damage to contents is $5,000.00. The investigation continues.
