The wreck happened about 10:10 p.m. on southbound Interstate 435 near Eastwood Trafficway.
Kansas City, Missouri police say two others suffered non life-threatening injuries.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash, but no information was available about what led to the crash.
Police shut down the highway at 10:30 p.m. and say it won't reopen for at least two hours.
