A little over a week away from Opening Day, the Royals let local parks and recreation agencies, landscapers, area baseball field groundskeepers, and other organizations inside for a sneak peek at the field.
The Royals Grounds Crew shared tips on how they maintain the stadium grounds and a special preview of preseason preparations.
Trevor Vance, senior director of groundskeeping, said it's a good way for other grounds crews to learn the best methods to keeping a clean, safe field.
Although the weather took a turn for the worse, Vance said this year's clinic had more people than he can remember attending in years past.
In conjunction with the clinic, Royals Charities and the Baseball Tomorrow Fund presented $20,000 to the Clay Platte Baseball League to renovate their field.
Both organizations promote growth of youth baseball in the area by awarding grants for field upkeep, construction, equipment, uniforms, training, and more.
