KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two weeks after attacking her ex-boyfriend alongside her father, Jonay Wright remains in a Jackson County jail. Wright's family believes she's a victim of domestic violence.

The 17-year-old Ruskin High School senior was charged with domestic violence for an attack on her ex-boyfriend Cullen Landis.

According to court documents, Jonay received a threatening text message from Landis as she walked with her father. The text message allegedly triggered Jonay's father, Josiah Wright, to attack Landis.

This attack happened the day before Cullen was scheduled to appear in court for assaulting Jonay.

Cullen sustained serious injuries and has since been released from the hospital.

Both Jonay and Josiah remain in jail.
