KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Southbound Interstate 35 near Shawnee Mission Parkway was closed due to a crash that left one person seriously injured Friday night.
Just after 8 p.m., a Ford Fusion was traveling southbound on I-35 when the driver lost control of the vehicle, hit a barrier wall, and then struck a semi-truck head-on.
The driver of the Ford suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The semi-truck driver was not injured in the crash.
Traffic was backed up at SB I-35 at Johnson Drive as crews worked to divert motorists off the interstate.
