A second suspicious fire in less than three months heavily damaged the home at 1215 SE 11th Street.

Neighbors called firefighters to a fire on the back deck just before midnight Saturday, September 9th.

Upon arrival, the covered deck on the back of the house was heavily involved in fire and spreading to the roof and interior.

The house was still partially boarded up from the previous fire and unoccupied.

Assistant Fire Chief Jim Eden says the fire originated on the deck, and caused heavy damage to the outside, and additional damage to the inside of the home.

The fire in the early morning of June 24th originated inside the house, and it was determined a burglary had occurred, and the house was set on fire to destroy evidence.

Assistant Chief Eden says the second fire is considered suspicious, and the State Fire Marshal, along with Lee's Summit Police and Fire Departments are investigating.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to call the Lee's Summit Police Department at (816) 969-1668, or the Missouri Arson Hotline at 1-800-39ARSON.
