KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two broken sewer mains are causing one KC Water wastewater station to pump wastewater into the Missouri River instead of into the treatment plant.

KC Water said the sewer mains broke on Sunday at the Santa Fe Wastewater Pump Station on Woodswether Road.

The broken mains are a 30-inch force main and a 12-inch sludge line.

KC Water said it is in contact with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources about the issue.

A spokesperson for the company said the issue is not affecting drinking water and there was no immediate health concern.
