KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Shawnee, Kansas, man has been sentenced to 13 years in federal prison for illegal possession of a firearm and possession of cocaine.
Anthony Whitehead, 32, also must pay a $5,000 fine and will not be eligible for parole. He was found guilty June 19 of one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of possessing a controlled substance.
A federal arrest warrant was issued for Whitehead in December 2016 in relation to an attempted kidnapping. Federal agents contacted Whitehead in January 2017 at a Kansas City, Missouri, motel, where a loaded Glock .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun was located.
Agents also discovered roughly 1.5 grams of cocaine in Whitehead’s possession.
