On Thursday afternoon, Shawnee Mission School Board members approved one of the plans for boundary changes.
It was a 5-2 vote for Plan A.
Assistant superintendent Dr. Michelle Hubbard said these changes were needed due to overcrowding in some schools and low enrollment in others.
"Boundaries in the school districts the size of Shawnee Mission are inevitable," Hubbard said. "There will always be school boundaries, and they will never be easy. That is one thing that will not change."
The elementary schools impacted by this change are:
- Broken Arrow
- Christa McAuliffe
- Lenexa Hills
- Mill Creek
- Rhein Benninghoven
- Rising Star
- Shawanoe
- Sunflower
