KCPD officers reported being shot at near Sixth and Hardesty on Friday night.
Kansas City police said officers were dispatched to the area on illegal drug activity.
As the officers were conducting a car check, they heard the crack of a shot which appeared to be directed toward them. Police said the officers were not able to determine exactly where the shot came from. The officers then took cover.
Kansas City police said other officers arrived and were able to get the other officers to safety. No one was hit.
Police searched a wide area for the suspect or suspects.
