UPDATE, Dec. 30 | Sometime before midnight, Hertel was found safe in Cloud County. He is being reunited with his family.
ORIGINAL STORY, Dec. 29 | A statewide Silver Alert has been issued for a 93-year-old Garden City, Kansas, man.
Donald Hertel was last seen around 8 a.m. Tuesday at his home in Garden City.
Police said he is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He has gray hair, blue eyes and wears glasses.
He was last seen wearing a red sweater and black slacks.
Hertel, according to police, has “significant hearing loss” and shows signs of dementia. He also walks with a bend at the waist, slouching forward.
Police said he likely is driving a dark blue 1994 four-door Chevy Caprice with Kansas disabled tag 71528. He could be traveling toward Hays.
