Missing Leawood man returns home safely

Update: Leawood Police said early Wednesday morning Robert Newth returned home safely a little after 11 p.m. Tuesday.

They canceled the Silver Alert.

Police said they want to thank family and friends who looked for Newth.

Previous: Leawood, Kansas Police issued a Silver Alert Tuesday night for a missing 81-year-old man with medical problems.

Robert Charles Newth Sr. left his home about 1 p.m. Tuesday near W. 125th Street and Roe Avenue, according to a news release from Leawood Police Department.

Newth was driving a red 2014 Jeep Cherokee with a Kansas Veteran license plate.

The plate number is 80BDE.

There is also vanity plate with the word Lollipop on the front of the SUV.

He is white, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and weighs 192 pounds.

Newth has gray hair and blue eyes.

He was wearing a baseball cap, red nylon pullover shirt and blue corduroy pants.
