KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A small dog is receiving treatment after she was rescued from a 10-foot deep manhole Sunday.

Kansas City Pet Project said a good Samaritan was walking near the shelter off of Raytown Road when he heard a dog barking.

The man found the barking dog had fallen through an uncovered manhole and summoned help from a employee at KC Pet Project.

Together, the pair went down through the manhole and rescued the dog.

The shelter said the dog suffered no serious injuries, but likely would not have survived the predicted colder temperatures this week.
