Cargo plane makes diverted landing to KCI

A FedEx cargo plane made an unplanned landing Wednesday night at Kansas City International Airport after pilots radioed in a smoke alarm.

The flight, an Airbus A300, took off from Memphis and was headed toward Salt Lake City when pilots reported the alarm.

The plane landed without incident around 6:48 p.m. at KCI.

Kansas City, Mo. Fire crews checked out the airplane and did not find any smoke or fire.

Crews cleared the scene around 7:15 p.m.

The plane appeared set to continue to Salt Lake Wednesday night.

Two people were on board.
