Social media purchase ends in armed robbery in Olathe

State Department says it is now requiring social media info from 'most' visa applicants

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Olathe Police are looking for a woman suspected of robbing another person at gunpoint when meeting up to buy an item off of social media.

According to police, the robbery happened in the 18100 block of West 119th Street in Olathe just before noon on Aug. 12.

The victim told police she was there to buy an item from someone and that the transaction was facilitated through social media.

They said the suspect arrived and pulled a gun on the victim and demanded money.

The suspect is described as a black female, around 40 years old and wearing a blue shirt. She left in a green or gray passenger car.
