KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City government services and officials gathered today to give residents a one stop shop to get answers to questions and problems fixed.
The problem-solving event was like an in-person version of 311.
“Any sort of city service. First, comes into us and we direct them to the best resource to get their problem solved,” said Brandon Smith, call center specialist with 311.
The South Kansas City Alliance held the event, bringing together representatives for different city services and putting them all in one room.
Joann Mockobey stopped by the event to talk to someone about a project for her neighborhood.
“Yeah, it’s just a real mess,” said Mockobey.
A few years ago, Mockobey said new fire hydrants were installed in her neighborhood. Since then, she says her driveway and front yard have slowly been sinking.
“That’s why my neighbor told me about the PIAC. I’ve been trying to get them to come out and put in culverts and stuff,” said Mockobey.
The PIAC or Public Improvement Advisory Committee was one of many services represented at the event.
The committee has approved Mockobey’s request for the work, but she came to find out when they plan to get started.
“We thought we’d come in and talk to her and now she told us to go talk to the water service,” said Mockobey.
Like many who stopped by the problem solver event, Mockobey said she was grateful for the opportunity to get answers from those in charge, in person.
She hopes the new culverts will be installed before the cold weather kicks in.
