KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Northland commuters using the Buck O’Neil Bridge will need to make an adjustment to their route starting on May 19.
MoDOT announced Monday a time-frame to complete short-term rehabilitation work on the bridge, which carries U.S. Highway 169 traffic from downtown north over the Missouri River.
As part of the work, both southbound lanes of the bridge will be closed starting May 19 and lasting through November.
Southbound traffic will be diverted to Interstate 29/35 to cross the river on the Kit Bond Bridge. Other traffic will be directed to use the Heart of America Bridge.
One lane of Route 169 will remain open south of Route 9 to allow traffic to get to the downtown airport, but those drivers have to exit at the airport.
Northbound lanes will remain open during the project.
