KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Spire customers could see lower gas bills this winter, the company said Thursday.

Beginning Nov. 15, residential customers will likely see the natural gas rates on their bills decrease because of estimated changes in the wholesale cost of natural gas, Spire said in a news release. The company has also changed its actual cost adjustment factor, which tracks over-collection or under-collection of natural gas costs over a 12-month period.

Those balances are either refunded or collected the following year, Spire said.

The average customer will see their gas bill drop by about $4 a month over the winter, according to the release.

Spire serves more than 513,000 customers in 31 counties, including Bates, Cass, Clay, Clinton, Jackson, Lafayette, Platte and Ray counties in the Kansas City metro area.
