KANSAS CITY, Mo. — KCPD said a standoff at a residence near 63rd and Indiana ended peacefully.
The situation began around 4 a.m. when a neighbor called police saying the subject of interest started a fire between his house and the neighbor’s, and he was armed with a handgun.
Police said the subject went inside his home when police approached him.
Neighbors told 41 Action News they heard a lot of banging, gunshots, yelling and dogs barking.
Several roads in the area were closed as KCPD tried to get the man to come out, which he eventually did just before 6:30 a.m.
Police told 41 Action News they have the man in custody and are now trying to figure out why he started the fire and barricaded himself.
No one was injured.
