Suburban JoCo newspaper ends publication

Posted

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Shawnee (Kansas) Dispatch has published its final edition.

The newspaper said in its Wednesday publication that this week’s edition would be its last.

Publisher Scott Stanford cited declining advertising revenue as the key factor in the closure.

The paper debuted in 2002 as an arm of the Lawrence, Kansas-based World Company, which also owns the Tonganoxie (Kansas) Mirror and the Lawrence Journal-World.

The World Company was purchased by Ogden Newspapers in August 2016.
