Suspect surrenders after standoff in KC

Kansas City police said a suspect surrendered without incident after a standoff Friday morning.

At 12:30 a.m., officers were called to a residence in the 3500 block of North College in regard to a disturbance involving a person armed with an assault rifle.

When officers arrived, the victim told police her husband, the suspect, threatened her with an assault rifle while inside their residence.

The suspect refused to exit the residence, and a standoff began.

Negotiators responded to the scene, and at 4:30 a.m. the suspect surrendered without incident.
