KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Police shot and killed a woman wielding a sword following a standoff Thursday.
Police were originally called to the 3800 block of N. Jackson Avenue at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Officers spotted the woman with a sword. She then reportedly ran into a house and then a nearby shed.
A police spokesman said tactical officers prevented the woman from leaving the shed and negotiators attempted to make contact.
Police identified the woman as Ashley Fulkerson, 28, from Kansas City, Missouri.
A nearby daycare/school was placed on a lockdown to ease dismissal of kids at the daycare.
Shortly after this shooting, officers in downtown Kansas City shot and killed two men in an unrelated incident.
