A 17-year-old has been charged in connection to Friday’s fatal shooting at 66th and Monroe Ave.
Marqiveon D.Washington, 17, was charged with first-degree murder, the unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action, in connection to the shooting death of Justin Williams.
Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced the charges on Saturday.
Williams was killed late Friday morning.
Testimony from three witnesses were key in making the charges happen
In a common theme to this week, prosecutors say witnesses were important in leading to an arrest.
One witness told police she saw a grey vehicle crash into a parked vehicle.
After the crash, Williams and another male fought. Williams attempted to run away from the scene, when the second man fired a gun four or five times, the witness told police.
A second witness was in his apartment when he heard the gunshots.
A third witness said he saw someone throw items into a nearby row of bushes. Later on Friday, a Kansas City Police Department K-9 discovered a black handgun.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $350,000.
